Beta Policies
What are the requirements of membership?
To be considered an active member and to be eligible for convention attendance and awards at the end of the school year:
- Each member must attend at least two-thirds of our monthly meetings. Meetings are typically held once a month in the main campus auditorium but will be fluid this year and some may be virtual as we navigate the pandemic.
- Each member must complete at least 13 service points and 2 fundraising points for a total of 15 points each semester. Members must participate in at least 2 Beta sponsored activities each semester. 8 of the 13 service points must be earned through service. The 5 remaining service points may be earned through donations and/or service. Members are strongly encouraged to participate in as many projects as possible since this is the key to leadership development within our organization.
- Fall point sheets are due December 15, 2022.
- Members who do not obtain15 points during the fall semester will be placed on probation. Those members will have until the end of the following 9 weeks to finish up their hours. However, the member will still have to be working on the additional 15 hours required for the spring semester. Any member on probation who does not fulfill the number of hours needed will be removed from the Beta roster at the end of the probation period.
- Spring point sheets are due May 10, 2023. Senior spring point sheets are due April 10, 2023.
- Members who do not obtain15 points during the spring semester will be placed on probation and will not be allowed to renew their Beta membership in the following school year until they have fulfilled their hours for the spring semester. If a member owes hours from the spring semester, they must turn in their documentation of points needed with their Beta application in the 2023-2024 school year.
- Members who do not maintain a 3.3 GPA during any marking period of the 2022-2023 school year will be placed on academic probation. At the end of the probation period, if the member has not brought up his/her GPA, he/she will be removed from the Beta roster.
- Members are expected to demonstrate the characteristics of a Beta and be a role model to all in school and outside of school, which includes social media. If a Beta member fails to maintain the expected decorum, then he/she may be placed on probation or be immediately removed from the Beta roster depending on the severity of the issue.
What are the dues for members?
Dues of $30* are payable at the beginning of each year of membership and are used to pay for National membership and club expenses during the year, which includes participation in the State Convention (held at the Convention Center in Baton Rouge). We also hope to attend the National Convention, which will be held in late June in Kentucky. You may wish to explore the National Beta Club website at www.betaclub.org to learn more about the benefits that are included in the induction fee. T-shirts are $15 and optional. However, Betas are required to wear a Beta shirt to all volunteer activities.
We are requesting that dues and t-shirts be paid for online through the Main Campus site.
How do I apply for membership?
Freshman applications need to be turned in to Ms. Delahoussaye’s room; Main Campus turned in to Ms. Matte’s or Mrs. Frey’s room. ALL forms must be turned in and dues paid no later than September 16, 2022. *Please pay dues online this year. If there is an issue, I.e. no credit card, we will accept payment in our room following CDC Guidelines.
Remind
All Beta members are required to sign up for the Beta Remind appropriate for their grade level. This is our main form of communication. Parents may sign up for Remind, but the member must also be signed up.
