ACCREDITATION

Sulphur High School is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is approved and accredited by the Louisiana State Board of Education. The School holds accreditation in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association.

PHILOSOPHY OF SULPHUR HIGH SCHOOL

bullet We believe that the purpose of education is to help each student acquire an understanding of himself/herself and an appreciation of his/her worth as an individual.
bullet We believe that the school is responsible not only for stressing mastery of the basic skills but also for promoting intellectual development and a positive attitude toward the learning process.
bullet We believe that the school must foster in each pupil the attitudes which lead to responsible citizenship and an appreciation of human achievement.
bullet We believe that the school must provide a curriculum which reflects a concern for individual differences.
bullet We believe further that this curriculum should be so administered is such a way as to stress rational and independent thinking in a creative atmosphere.
bullet We believe that the school must help each student to take advantage of all opportunities which lead to a full and productive life

OBJECTIVES OF SULPHUR HIGH SCHOOL

bullet To provide competent guidance which will help each student achieve his potential.
bullet To provide a flexible curriculum which stresses a variety of experiences, both physical and mental, geared to individual needs and to individual differences.
bullet To provide an extensive vocational program with the curriculum.
bullet To provide extra-curricular and co-curricular activities which relate to a variety of interests and which promote leadership and group responsibility.
bullet To provide a well rounded sports program which emphasizes both interscholastic and individual participation.
bullet To develop an understanding of the rights and duties of a citizen in a democratic society.
bullet To develop a desire to act with loyalty to democratic ideals.
bullet To encourage in students a continuing desire to learn through the development of effective study habits and independent, unbiased thinking.
