Attendance

When absent, an excuse is to be presented the day you return.  It is your responsibility to make-up work missed (board work, homework, test, project, etc.).  You may ask another student or me before or after - NOT DURING class.  I will not remind you of any missed assignments - THIS IS SOLELY YOUR RESPONSIBILITY.

Make-up Work

All assigned homework, quizzes, project, and exams will be posted and available to you at all times.  Upon your return to class after and absence, check these lists to find out what assignments you missed, and make them up within one week of your return to class.  THIS IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY!  After one week of your return to class, all work not made up will be marked zero.

Graded Papers

Each student will have a graded papers folder that will be kept in the classroom. The folder will contain all of your quizzes, projects, and exams for the current six weeks.  Each time a grade is returned, you will placed in the folder and record the grade on your grade sheet.  This section allows you to keep track of your grade and therefore be aware of your current class average at all times.

Classroom Management

All backpacks and bags are to be left at the front of the class room.  Be seated and prepared to begin a new lesson, complete a project, or to be quizzed on the previous lesson when the tardy bell rings.  Pencil sharpening should be done before the tardy bell rings.  I expect your complete attention while I am addressing the class.  Each student has the right to learn in an atmosphere conducive to learning,  therefore I will do whatever is necessary to insure you that right.  Students will be responsible for their behavior at all times.  Classroom and school rules must be followed.  If misbehavior does occur, students will be dismissed from the classroom.  Disrespectfulness to me or to another student will not be tolerated.

Class Rules

All students are subject to the Code of Conduct printed in the SHS handbook.  No food or drink allowed in the classroom or lab by students at any time.  When in the lab the Computer Responsibility Rule will be followed.  Serious discipline problems will result in a trip to the office and a call placed to your guardians.

Internet Release Form

All students must have an Internet release form signed by their legal guardian and it must be on file with the counselor’s office.  Most of you have one that came to Sulphur High with you in your cum folder.  Anyone not having one on file will have one week to produce a signed form after one week you will be sent to the counselor’s office for a schedule change.  Calcasieu Parish School Board will not allow any student that does not have a signed form to sit in front of a computer with Internet access.  If your guardian does not want you to have access to the Internet then a schedule change is a must since this course will deal with using the Internet for research (not Intro to BCA).  Just a few reminders:

The Internet will be used for educational purposes only.

The use of the Internet is a privilege, not a right.  Inappropriate use such as playing games during class, violation of copyright laws or other contracts will result in the cancellation of that privilege.  Students are NOT allowed to download software from the Internet to the computers without teacher permission.

CPSB filters its Internet access but this is not a foolproof system.  Students can still access inappropriate web sites.  All instances must be reported to the teacher.  Repeated occurrences will result in the cancellation of privileges.  Any student whose folder is found to be in possession of obscene, illegal, or pornographic material will be sent to the office.

Vandalizing classroom equipment, computer hardware (mouse, keyboard, monitor, etc…), software (programs being used), or the data of another user will result in a trip to the office.  Students are not allowed to “look” at another student’s work unless the other student is present.  Invading the privacy of another student will be met with strict disciplinary actions.

All students will be held responsible for their Code of Conduct while in the computer lab and while on the Internet.  Violation of CPSB’s Acceptable Use Policy may result in In-School-Isolation or Suspension of the student.
